The track starts from the Waterfall car park, which is reached via a gravel road at the end of Mullans Road. This is a DOC track.

The ascent through the bush is quite steep. About halfway up you will come across a thin and tall waterfall, the Dog Stream Waterfall, which stands at 41 metres and makes for a nice stop. Once you get out of the bush and reach the saddle, the terrain opens up and the walk becomes much more enjoyable. From here La Chilindrina is visible on your left, while Mount Isobel sits much further in the distance ahead. From the col onwards orange poles mark the route all the way to the summit.

Near the summit you first arrive at the Trig point, and then a short distance further you reach the actual highest point of the mountain. The views of the Lewis Pass from up there are amazing.

There are several other tracks in this area, such as the Spur Track or Fir Trail, which you can use to create various circuits back to the car park.
