Easy stroll to the top of this emblematic mountain part of the city of Wellington. You can get to the top by car but, why drive when you can have a nice walk through the forest?
The circular walk starts from the neighbourhood of Te Aro, in front of the famous Embassy Theatre at the eastern end of Courtenay Place. This theatre is well known for hosting Peter Jackson's world premieres like Lord of the Rings or The Hobbit.
The track goes up Majoribanks Street and then left to Hawker Street and soon it gets into Charles Plimmer Park.
After a bit over a kilometre you will be at the lookout point enjoying the beautiful views of the city 360 degrees. You can even see Lyall Bay and the airport looking to the South.
Separated only by a few meters from the lookout point are the antenna and the trig point which represents the highest elevation of Mount Victoria.
To go down, we follow the track straight to the North that takes us to Oriental Bay. Here we make a left and enjoy the nice walk along the beachfront.
Soon we are back to the Embassy Theatre where we started.
