This track starts from Angelus hut and goes up Angelus peak and back again to the hut.

From the hut you can clearly see the summit of Angelus peak. You can also see the ridge that leads to the summit and the saddle we need to get to in order to have access to the ridge. It's actually quite a beautiful view from the hut.

We start walking next to Lake Angelus. The first 500 meters are more or less flat and then we need to get down to the Hinapouri Tarn which is where people are allowed to camp. We cross the tarn on its end, where it's just a stream that discharges the tarn and after a short grassy and flat area we start our ascend.

There is grass on the first part of the ascent and the slope is gentle. Grass slowly leads to rocks and the slope keeps increasing. We follow the little rocks that people have piled up to indicate the way up. Sometimes we can see what looks like a track that keeps appearing and disappearing. We keep going and after 2.6 kilometres from the hut we get to the saddle.

At the saddle we make a left turn. From this point it's only 700 meters to the summit although things will get a bit harder.
We keep walking on the ridge following the little rocks marking the way and reverting to the GPS when in doubt.

We get to the point where there is just one more stretch to the summit. It looks quite steep and scary from below. It looks dangerous and it doesn't seem obvious which way to go. The loose gravel makes it slippery and makes me think I won't be able to stop if I happen to slip.
Following the GPS, slowly and step by step I reach a zone where the slope decreases and looks like the summit. It's not the summit yet. We walk a few more meters on this flat and easy terrain and we finally reach the actual summit.
Now it's time to enjoy the views. You deserve it after the hard work.

To go back we follow exactly the same route we took to come up.

In summary, this is a fantastic short walk to enjoy if you are at Angelus Hut. It's fairly easy apart from the last section of the ridge with loose stones that leads to the summit. This section is not difficult but you have to be careful and pay attention not to slip down.
