Easy walk to the top of Makara Peak in the neighbourhood of Karori in Wellington.
This mountain is a big bike park. There are many tracks and therefore many ways to go up or down.
I decided to start from St. Albans Avenue and follow the main gravel road most of the way. On the way up I took a detour following Rimu trail first and then Miro trail to end up joining the main gravel road further up. This detour added an extra 500 metres. For the way down I went straight on the gravel road.
At the top there is a tower with antennas and a nice mural painted on the walls of the antenna building. The best are the views looking towards the city.
