I leave the car at the side of one of the streets in a residential area of Mount Victoria town, in the Blue Mountains. I decided to do this route as a counterclockwise loop following some tracks and some roads visiting, in this order, Pulpit Rock lookout, Ross Cave, Mount Piddington and One Tree Hill.
I start the walk taking what looks like a track in between properties. This track goes for about 300 metres until reaching a road which I follow down until getting to Pulpit Rock lookout. Take your time here because this is the spot with the best views of the route.
From this point things change a bit. You get into a narrow track that goes down for about 500 metres and then starts going up again. A few metres on the ascent I decide to take a left turn and make a detour of an extra 200 metres to visit Ross Cave. Nothing special at the cave so I go back down to the track. After about 400 metres more or less flat following the track I start the ascent to get to the top of Mount Piddington. There is a road that gets to this summit so you could just drive up here if you feel so lazy. You can also drive to One Tree Hill summit, which is only 500 metres apart on this same road.
There are some nice views from the top of Mount Piddington but no views at all from One Tree Hill where you will only find a couple of big water tanks and some houses. From here I undo some of my steps and get back to the car only a few short minutes later.
